Working with Pinboards

I have been using pinboards to build a map illustration on the journey of 18th century Artist Scientist and Adventurer Maria Sibylla Merian. Voicing the role women played to influence science and their life stories is so important because it is these stories that have too often been forgotten. Maria’s colourful life story is an interesting tale. I am working on a picture book to share her story with young readers.

Art for Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month

I have been making art for Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month. I like to use my art to raise awareness for good causes where I can. People with Pulmonary Fibrosis need more help because treatment is so limited. Lung health is so important to quality of life. I have paid close attention to colours and imagery Pulmonary Fibrosis charities use in this artwork.

Home pattern

I designed this pattern to look like a Townhouse/Cityscape with different colour versions. I made sure the different houses and buildings fitted together to work as a repeat pattern.

The Make Art That Sells September Challenge 2025

I was one of the winners of the 2025 Instagram challenge with Make Art That Sells. The idea was you try to make something each day of September in response to their prompt list. The challenge was designed to push your creativity. you can either try a new way of working or use your usual working process and challenge it somehow. I used the challenge to see what 3D paper collages I could make on each day, helping me learn how to work quicker and more creatively. You can see the rest of my work for this on my Instagram.

I wanted to test myself and see how small-scale I can work. I made this miniature book shop. It is small enough to fit into a spread pot. I made miniature paper furniture for the rooms inside the windows. I used it for a prompt for the September challenge I took part in. I hope to make more beautiful miniature buildings in future. I will give it another go and see what I can turn out with a less strict deadline next time.
